Fibromylagia:

Fibromyalgia
is chronic disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue,
and tender point. The sufferers may also experience sleeping difficulties
or disturbances, morning stiffness, irritable bowels and anxiety
-
Fibromylagia
affects about three to six million Americans, occurring primarily in women
of childbearing age, though children and elderly men can have it
-
The
cause of the disorder is not currently known, though there are some ideas
being bounced about. Some believe the syndrome may be triggered or caused
injury or trauma. This injury may affect. Fibromylagia may also be associated
with changes in muscle metabolism such as decreased blood flow. It is also
said that it may be brought on by a viral agent, though none has been yet
discovered
-
The
symptoms of fibromylagia are similar in the extreme to those of may other
diseases. The pain is widespread and persists for more than three months
and eleven to eighteen sore, tender spots
-
Aerobic
exercise in helpful in improving muscle fitness and reducing muscle pain.
Heat and massage have also been show to help. Antidepressants can help
relieve depression, improve sleep, and relax muscles
-
Some
researchers are concentrating on specific brain structures and how they
are involved in the painful symptoms of fibromylagia. Also being used is
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS)
to study patients affected by the disorder. At another site, scientists
are looking at a post-lyme disease syndrome as a model
