Gamma Hydroxybutyric Acid:
The Date Rape Drug

This is a important bit of information for ever woman out there. Gamma hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) was originally developed in the sixties as an anesthetic. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) banned the drug as a food supplements following reports of nausea, respiratory problems, seizures and coma. GHB gained popularity in the nineties as an anabolic steroid. It has been illegally promoted as a growth hormone stimulant, diet aid, sleeping aid and euphoriant. GHB is widely used at RAVE parties and many concerts, but is most commonly used now as the date rape drug. It dissolves easily in water and alcohol.

The usual dose of this drug is one teaspoon, but that is enough to induce a coma. Symptoms depend heavily upon the dose, but may include and one or combination of the following: amnesia, drowsiness, euphoria, headache, sweating, excessive salivation, confusion, shaking, seizure or seizure-like activities, in larger doses; respiratory depression, nausea, vomiting and coma.

Symptoms set in about 2 to 15 minutes after IV use and 15 to 30 minutes after oral introduction to the body. Recovery takes anywhere from 2 to 96 hours, though dizziness may linger for up to two weeks.

GHB is also known as grievous bodily harm, G juice, liquid E, ecstasy, G scoop, super X, and blue ice. The drug costs about ten dollars a bottle.

Watch what you drink and who you take your drink from! I cannot stress this enough. GHB affects you judgment much the same way as alcohol does, but faster and in smaller amounts. Be careful at your next party, please!
